CRT Ban - Its the Law!
It is now illegal in Minnesota to place computer monitors and televisions in the trash.
MN State Statute 115A.9565
Effective July 1, 2006, a person may not place in mixed municipal solid waste an electronic product containing a cathode-ray tube.A Cathode-Ray Tube (CRT) is the display device used in most computer monitors and televisions.
Recycling Electronics
Computer Monitors and Televisions contain lead and other heavy metals. Starting July 1, 2006 they cannot be disposed of as garbage and must be recycled.
Waste Management supports environmentally responsible management of CRTs requesting that our customers recycle them today.
You can also recycle many other electronic items, including computer peripherals (mouse, keyboard, cables, printer, scanner, speakers, etc.), cell phones, hand-held devices, photocopiers, fax machines, stereos, VCRs, and DVD players.
